Spring Into Derby

Spring Into Derby is a vibrant, Derby-inspired festival of the arts held in the historic Paristown neighborhood of Louisville. This outdoor weekend festival blends the spirit of community with local creativity, featuring an open-air art market, live music, craft cocktails, and the unmistakable charm of Derby season.

For this project, I developed the full visual identity, including the event logo, branding elements, and the overall look and feel across all materials. The creative direction is rooted in the energy of spring and the excitement of horse racing—two defining elements of Louisville culture that naturally converge during Derby season.

The central visual takes a playful and artistic approach to this fusion: a robin—one of the earliest signs of spring—was chosen as the symbolic focal point. To tie in the Derby theme, I seamlessly composited a horse jockey riding the robin, creating a surreal yet charming blend of spring and racing. This unexpected combination helped set the tone for a festival that’s both imaginative and rooted in local tradition.
